MIAMI, Florida – July 2026 — The Filmed in Peru 2026 film showcase wrapped up its latest South Florida edition to widespread acclaim, reinforcing the growing interest of both Hispanic and American audiences in Peruvian cinema. Held in conjunction with Peru’s National Holidays (Fiestas Patrias), thousands of attendees gathered to enjoy a diverse lineup of feature films, shorts, and cultural experiences across iconic venues in Miami, Hollywood, and Fort Lauderdale.
Box Office Success and High-Profile Premieres
A major highlight of the July tour took place at the Koubek Center in Miami, where moviegoers turned out in full force for the Florida premiere of the moving drama 1982, directed by Juan Carlos García and starring Kailani Pinedo, Alain Salinas, and Julia Thays. The opening night also featured a strong turnout for the screening of The Innocents.
The weekend showcase continued with packed houses at Cinema Paradiso in Hollywood, featuring the U.S. premiere of the Audience Award-winning film Runa Simi, the feature Heart of the Wolf, and the Peru Shorts selection. The tour concluded at Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale, where titles like Ramon & Ramon capped off a weekend rich in culture, storytelling, and heritage.
Building a Strong Cultural Bridge
The July events marked the climax of a standout 2026 season that kicked off in April at the Silverspot Cinema in Miami—in connection with the Miami Film Festival—with screenings of titles like Bus and the cultural exhibit “Qhapac Ñan”, dedicated to Inca heritage. The tour also made successful stops in Long Island, New York, and Stamford, displaying acclaimed works including Flor Pucarina, Piru, Uchpa, and Good Morning Wiraqocha.
Since its founding in 2023, Filmed in Peru has established itself as the premiere platform for promoting Peruvian cinema in the United States, showcasing over 50 films—many featuring guest appearances by filmmakers, traditional gastronomy, and live cultural performances.
